“Dives all over the place” Graeme Souness attacks another Arsenal player
Graeme Souness has shifted his attention away from Declan Rice, at least for now, and has instead criticised another Arsenal player after making fresh comments about Bukayo Saka.
Saka has established himself as one of the Premier League’s leading right wingers in recent seasons. Arsenal value his contribution across competitions, and he remains important for both club and country.
Souness turns his attention to Saka
Despite Saka’s consistent performances, he remains a target for criticism. Souness has questioned the winger’s conduct during matches, accusing him of going to ground too easily when challenged by defenders.
Saka often faces physical treatment from opponents and sometimes attempts to stay on his feet under pressure. However, Souness believes the Arsenal forward dives too frequently, particularly when he risks losing possession.
The criticism is notable given Saka’s importance to Arsenal, where his attacking output makes him a key figure. Nevertheless, Souness has made clear that his concerns are about what he sees as simulation rather than the winger’s ability.
Souness accuses Arsenal winger of diving
During a conversation with Piers Morgan, Souness delivered a blunt assessment of Saka’s behaviour. As quoted by the Daily Mail, he said:
‘Your man Saka dives all over the place. I don’t want to hear about him. The minute he looks like losing possession, he’s down. ‘He simulates a foul. Anyone who simulates a foul in my book would be a cheat. ‘He dives when he should be staying on his feet. He’s not alone. So Saka gets tackled, he screams as he’s going down.’
Souness’s comments reflect his disapproval of players he believes exaggerate contact or attempt to win free kicks unfairly. His criticism adds to the scrutiny Saka faces whenever his reactions to challenges become a talking point.
For Arsenal, Saka remains a central part of their plans, while Souness has made his position on the player’s conduct clear.
