Liverpool could lose yet another star. His agents are now in talks with a UEFA Champions League side as a potential exit is on the cards.

Liverpool have lost a lot of truly great talent over the last few years. Not all of it has been choice, either, though some of it absolutely was. Mohamed Salah leaving this year, for instance, was down to the club as much as the player.

There have been plenty of sales, too. Curtis Jones departed for Inter in the summer while homegrown talent like Caoimhin Kelleher and Jarell Quansah were both sold to starting positions elsewhere.

But then there are the ones that aren't by choice. Trent Alexander-Arnold was offered a new contract but rejected it to join Real Madrid. One year later, Ibrahima Konaté did literally the exact same thing.

And it likely won't stop there. That doesn't mean players will leave next year to join Real Madrid (but don't rule that out) but there are stars who could get their heads turned.

Rio Ngumoha and the Bayern Munich links

Bayern Munich were surprisingly linked with a move for Rio Ngumoha in the summer. They were supposedly willing to put up quite a bit of cash to make it happen, though Liverpool never entertained the idea.

But Christian Falk reports that they haven’t actually stopped looking. He claims that Bayern remain in talks with representatives of Ngumoha, though not directly the player himself.

They’re eager to find the player who could take over from Luis Diaz on the left wing. Ngumoha is certainly a fit for that - even if a successor to the Colombian is the exact same role that Liverpool want him for.

Now, the reason these talks are important is that Ngumoha’s contract expires in 2028 and Liverpool are in their own talks to get a new one signed. If they fail, there will be immense pressure to sell next summer while they can still get a fee for him.

That then becomes even more complicated because Chelsea get 20 per cent of any sale. Essentially, there’s no good outcome here other than Ngumoha re-signing with Liverpool.

Bayern are going to do all they can to make sure that doesn’t happen, though. We’ll probably refrain from predicting how this one goes, given the exits over the last couple of years, but we know Liverpool are pushing hard.
