Diego Simeone now dreaming of signing perfect Liverpool midfielder

Liverpool have handed out new contracts to midfielders Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch in recent months.

The odd one out from the 2024/25 Premier League title-winning midfield so far has been Alexis Mac Allister.

While Szoboszlai and Gravenberch have secured bumper new deals the 27-year-old Argentina international has been left with his nose pressed against the glass.

No new deal for Alexis Mac Allister

Signed from Brighton for £35m back in 2023 Mac Allister has enjoyed some stellar moments for the Anfield side. And after an underwhelming season last term the No10 has roared back into form this campaign.

It has led to speculation that a new deal WILL be forthcoming for the former Boca Juniors star but right now no deal is on the table.

LFC must make Mac Allister decision soon

Mac Allister is under contract until 2028 - meaning sporting director Julian Ward will soon have to come to a reckoning over the South American schemer.

If no accord can be struck then don’t be surprised to see the Merseysiders entertain bids next summer. And according to Esto Es Atleti it could well be Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid who come forward with a compelling offer.

With Pablo Barrios frequently out of the lineup due to injury - and Johnny Cardoso so far unable to get up to speed - Atletico need a quality addition.

“If the English club doesn't present a truly compelling contract extension offer, Atlético Madrid will be ready to make a strong move when the current season ends,” the report reads.

Describing Mac Allister as a perfect fit the report claims that Atleti have already made an attempt to prise him out of Anfield but have not been successful.

No doubt Mac Allister and his camp will be frustrated to see Szoboszlai and Gravenberch ahead of him in the contract queue. The consequence could be an early departure next summer with a link-up with Simeone on the cards.
