Declan Rice hails Arsenal's 'undefeated' togetherness after Liverpool win
Declan Rice has said Arsenal showed togetherness to repel 'relentless attacks' from Liverpool at Anfield.
Arsenal moved back to the top of the Premier League table after a hard-fought 1-0 win at Liverpool.
Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the game after 16 minutes, with Arsenal forced to weather strong pressure from the home side after the break. Liverpool had nine shots in the second half alone, but were unable to test David Raya as Arsenal held firm.
Arsenal's win was their first at Anfield since September 2012, ending a 13-game run at Liverpool without a league victory.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Rice said Arsenal expected a real test at Liverpool and praised the Gunners for finding a new level of togetherness.
"That is the Anfield way, that is what this Liverpool team can do and they just create waves and waves of attack. Relentless attacks," he said at full-time.
"We knew it wouldn't have been easy but in the end that defensive line and that togetherness is undefeated, nothing I have ever seen before."
Rice was involved in the decisive goal, as the midfielder burst forward to set up Havertz's winner. He revealed how Arteta told him in a pre-season conversation that he felt Rice could still give more to the side.
"The manager had a really good, honest conversation with me at the start of the season. He still thinks I can do more for this club and this shirt and I think I have been feeling really good this season.
"I am so happy for Havertz because he deserved that goal and ultimately the 1-0 win. It is demanding but this is what this team does. You can only take the table seriously in the February, March games; anything between now and then, you have to just win."
