Liverpool want to sign FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa as their replacement for Alisson Becker next year.

Alisson, 34, has been the Reds’ first-choice goalkeeper since his arrival from AS Roma in 2018, but he is out of contract next summer and it’s understood that he is likely to leave on a Bosman deal.

A return to Serie A is believed to be Alisson’s most likely next step, with Juventus eager to finalise a deal after failing to sign him over the summer, and Liverpool are ready to step up plans regarding a replacement.

Current back-up option Giorgi Mamardashvili is the obvious choice for the role, but there are doubts over his suitability to becoming the club’s number one, while 18-year-old Lucca Brughmans, who will arrive from KRC Genk in 2027, is unlikely to immediately take over the reins at Anfield.

As a result, Liverpool are once again scouring the goalkeeper market and Anfield Watch report that Costa is the club’s top transfer target.

Andoni Iraola’s side believe that Costa would be an ideal replacement for Alisson due to his “experience and ability,” and the two-time Premier League winners are expected to ramp up their pursuit of his signature over the coming months.

Costa, who has three-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract, has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €40.4 million and he has racked up 261 appearances for Porto, in addition to 52 caps for the Portugal national team.

Who else do Liverpool want to sign in 2027?

In addition to Costa, Liverpool are also eager to sign a new central defender next year amid concerns that Virgil van Dijk may opt against putting pen to paper on a new contract at Anfield.

The club are open to the possibility of triggering the buy-back clause in Jarell Quansah’s deal at Bayer Leverkusen, while they are also keeping close tabs on the progress of Murillo (Nottingham Forest) and Nico Schlotterbeck (Borussia Dortmund).

Furthermore, Liverpool may look to bolster their midfield roster, with AS Monaco’s Lamine Camara regarded as one of their primary targets as they aim to sign a long-term replacement for Alexis Mac Allister.
