Arsenal are interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae in the January transfer window.

The Gunners signed Ezri Konsa during the summer transfer window, while William Saliba is also reportedly close to returning to full fitness.

The north London club could still be in the market for a new centre-back in January, partly because of the injury to Piero Hincapie.

Arsenal interested in Kim Min-jae

We previously reported that Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the South Korean defender.

Min-jae is behind Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah in the pecking order, but he remains an important squad player for Vincent Kompany’s side.

We also reported last month that Bayern Munich are planning to hold talks with Kim Min-jae over his future.

Kompany and Min-jae are working well together, and the defender is getting plenty of game time, meaning there is a possibility that the South Korean could be offered a new deal.

Christian Falk has told CFBayern Insider that the Gunners are considering Kim Min-jae as a potential option for their defence.

While Bayern are not actively looking to sell him, the Bavarian giants could still consider an offer at the right price.

Falk said: It is TRUE: Min-jae Kim is officially on Arsenal’s list. I’ve had this news confirmed. It’s partly because of the injury to Piero Hincapié. Also, the scouting chief, Maurizio Micheli, is the same one who discovered the South Korean during his time at Napoli. Now, he works for Arsenal, which is why he has the centre-back on his radar. They are looking for a potential defensive signing for the winter, so perhaps Kim could be sold with the right offer. We have to see what happens!

Should Bayern sell Kim Min-jae?

Min-jae has proved himself to be a capable back-up option, and there is little point in selling him without bringing in a suitable replacement.

At the same time, Bayern did not receive any substantial offers for Min-jae during the summer that were worth considering.

If Arsenal make a good offer for the centre-back, Bayern could consider selling him, and while Min-jae is happy in Germany, a move would give him an opportunity to join another top club.
