Club ready to do 'everything possible' to sign Liverpool legend
Liverpool are likely to go through some massive changes over the next year or so.
Because, by June 2027, at least a handful of the Reds' first-team squad will be out of contract.
And, while this wouldn't ordinarily be a problem, the fact that some of Liverpool's best players are part of that group is massively worrying.
Liverpool's backroom staff all know how important these players are to the Anfield outfit but, that clearly doesn't mean anything as negotiations for new deals haven't commenced yet.
This has caused the rumour mill to go into overdrive with some players already being linked with new clubs.
Flamengo want to sign Alisson from Liverpool
Alisson is one of the many players who look likely to leave Liverpool for free this summer.
As much as Liverpool won't want him to go, at the moment, everything is pointing in that direction.
The Reds extended his contract by a year last season and, although no negotiations needed to be held due to the option to extend that Liverpool had, you'd have expected them to try and keep him tied down for a little longer.
He may be 34 years old now but, he's still easily one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Admittedly, his injury history leaves a lot to be desired but, if he figures out a way to keep on top of that, he could play at the top level for many more years.
But, since his contract is set to expire and Liverpool haven't entered negotiations with him yet, other clubs have started to show an interest in signing him with 1News Brazil now sharing that Flamengo are keen on adding him to their squad.
"Flamengo is keeping Liverpool's Alisson Becker as a name that could influence the club's future planning," they wrote.
"According to this journalist's sources, if the goalkeeper decides to return to Brazilian football, Flamengo intends to do everything possible to make his signing a reality.
"The potential arrival of the number 1 goalkeeper would be a high-impact move in the transfer market.
"With international experience and notable spells with the Brazilian national team, Alisson possesses characteristics that make him capable of raising the level of the Flamengo squad.
"However, the player's desire to return to Brazil would be crucial for any initiative to move forward."
Liverpool cannot leave themselves with Giorgi Mamardashvili as their number one
Even though Liverpool may see Giorgi Mamardashvili as the perfect Alisson successor, he's nowhere near ready to become their number one option just yet.
In the 20 games that the Georgian featured in last season, he failed to impress fans and, all the things he was known for in Valencia barely existed with Liverpool.
His distribution was well-below par and, his shot-stopping, something that he was high regarded for across the world, just stopped happening.
This term, things have been a little different in the games he's featured in but, even from those outings alone, you can tell that he isn't ready to take that step-up yet.
Of course, he may have to if Alisson ends up injured but, for now, the Brazilian's fitness levels seem fairly high.
And, since he's likely to play an important role throughout the rest of the current campaign, there's really no reason for Liverpool to not extend his stay.
That is, especially if they want to get back to their best and start winning trophies again.
