Chelsea have today confirmed that Enzo Maresca has left the club.
Maresca succeeded Mauricio Pochettino at the Stamford Bridge helm in 2024 and guided the Blues to the UEFA Conference League and the Club World Cup in his debut season in west London.
The west London side also returned to the Champions League as they wrapped up fourth spot on the final day of the Premier League season.
Maresca leaves just 18 months after appointment
However, a breakdown in relationship between the manager and the board has seen the Italian leave the club
“Chelsea Football Club and Head Coach Enzo Maresca have parted company,” a statement read on the club’s official website.
“During his time at the Club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the Club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions to the Club.
“With key objectives still to play for across four competitions including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the Club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track.
“We wish Enzo well for the future.”
Chelsea have faltered in recent weeks
Chelsea had struggled in recent weeks, winning only one of their last seven league matches.
The Blues are next in action on Sunday, when they take on title contenders Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
