Bruno Fernandes has a desire to leave Manchester United in order to join a top European team, reports insider account Indy Kaila.

Fernandes, 32, has three goals and an assist after eight Premier League games this season. He is probably the club's best asset, though his production is not on course to get near last season's.

That the rest of the United side aren't performing particularly well isn't helping, with the club not having won in the last nine games in all competitions, and also sitting 17th in the Premier League.

Fernandes recently criticised Michael Carrick's tactics amid the club's poor run, and was dropped from the side as a result.

Naturally, there is speculation that the Portuguese could finally move on.

He's been linked with an exit for the past couple of years, largely to Saudi Arabia, but it's suggested he'd prefer to make another move.

It's reported Fernandes 'ideally wants to join a top European team.'

At 32, it's unclear how many big suitors Fernandes would have across Europe, though he did break the Premier League single-season assist record with 21 last term.

Man Utd warned over Bruno Fernandes sale

United have been warned by Tony Cascarino that the sale of Fernandes might not bring in a massive amount of cash despite his form since he headed to Old Trafford in 2020.

Cascarino said: “How many Manchester United players do you think you would get £60million for? Let’s just use that as a price tag. How many from Old Trafford would you buy for that?

“Carlos Baleba has just come for £70m, so it is a bit unfair to put him in.

“Would Bruno Fernandes go for £60m? You might from Saudi Arabia, but you wouldn’t from another Premier League team – there is no way that would happen.

“I really don’t think a Premier League club would pay it. He’s 32, so would you pay £60m and put him on a huge wage? I would think absolutely not.

“Has he been a great player for Man United? Yes, he has. He’s had periods where he has dragged the club out of trouble with his goals and his assists.”

With Fernandes' contract set to expire in the summer, January could be the final chance to make a decent fee from the midfielder, though United do have the option to extend his deal for an extra year to protect his value a little more.
