Bayern Munich are still in contact with wantaway Manchester United teenager JJ Gabriel to sign him in the January transfer window.

The 16-year-old teenager has expressed his desire to leave Old Trafford, and while Man Utd have not officially terminated his registration, the general expectation is that he will leave at some point in the next year.

La Liga giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly interested in securing his services, but Bayern are also in the race to sign the prodigiously gifted youngster.

JJ Gabriel future: Bayern still in contact

Christoph Freund has publicly shared his admiration for the youngster, and Bayern are committed to developing players for the future.

Christian Falk explained the backdrop of JJ Gabriel’s situation here, and the Bild journalist has further exclusively told CFBayern Insider that the Bavarian giants are still in contact with the player’s camp over a potential move.

Bayern are currently struggling with injury problems. Ismael Saibari has undergone surgery for ligament tear, while Serge Gnabry is out for the rest of the year.

With Jamal Musiala and Luis Diaz also struggling with fitness issues, Bayern could be forced to delve into the transfer market in January.

Bayern, in any way, will have to sign a new left winger in the summer, and if they opt to go for a new attacker now, they should go for JJ Gabriel, rather than losing to Madrid or Barcelona in the summer window.

Falk says that the move also helps Gabriel, as he can acclimatise for the rest of the season, while he can get playing time due to injuries to other players.

Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked, but Bayern are amongst the three top clubs that are heavily interested in signing the youngster.

JJ Gabriel: Man Utd career over?

The youngster has already requested to leave Old Trafford, although Man Utd have been attempting to resolve their differences with the teenager and his family for the past few weeks.

Gabriel joined the Red Devils’ academy at the age of 11 and has proved himself to be one of the most exciting young attackers in world football.

He scored 29 goals in 32 appearances for United’s Under-18s before joining the senior squad for pre-season, but has not made his debut.

Gabriel’s representatives requested assurances over regular game time, but Man Utd have failed to guarantee that, and as a result, there are strong disagreements over his development pathway.

In case, he moves abroad, the Red Devils could receive only a modest training compensation payment rather than a substantial transfer fee.
