Aston Villa star a doubt for Man City clash

Johan Manzambi remains a doubt for Aston Villa’s clash with Manchester City on Saturday.

The 21-year-old scored the winner in last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle United but was forced off in the second half.

Manzambi then missed Wednesday night’s Champions League game against Viking FK.

“I don’t know now,” Emery said on whether the midfielder is likely to return.

“Tomorrow we will see about our players. Saturday is in a few days.

“We must be ready in case he is not [ready], to stay consistent collectively.”

Emery believes Villa must be prepared to cope without Manzambi if necessary, while also taking encouragement from other players stepping up.

“Individually, some players did one step forward, getting confidence and feeling comfortable,” he added.

“In case he can play, fantastic, but if not, then we wait for the next match.

“I don’t know if he will be available.”
