Arteta says Arsenal will try to end their goal drought at the City Ground
Arsenal have failed to score in their last two visits to the City Ground, with both matches against Nottingham Forest ending in goalless draws. Mikel Arteta will be determined to end that run when his side returns to the venue this weekend.
Since returning to the Premier League, Forest have proved difficult opponents for the Gunners on home soil, winning two and losing one of their last five home meetings with Arsenal. They have repeatedly frustrated Arteta’s team, regardless of who has been in charge, and could pose another difficult challenge in the upcoming fixture.
Arsenal have not been entirely convincing since the start of this season, but they have continued to collect victories that keep them in the Premier League title race. With the competition for the championship intense, the Gunners will be eager to maintain their momentum and avoid dropping points against Forest.
Arteta targets an end to Arsenal’s scoring drought
Arsenal know they must improve their attacking performance if they are to break down a Forest side that has caused them problems at the City Ground. The hosts have demonstrated their ability to disrupt the Gunners’ rhythm, making it important for Arteta’s players to approach the contest with patience and determination.
The manager will also be aware that Forest can build momentum in front of their home supporters. Arsenal must therefore be prepared for a demanding match, both defensively and in their efforts to create clear scoring opportunities.
Ending the goalless run would be an important objective for the visitors, particularly as they look to strengthen their position in the title race. Arteta has acknowledged the difficulty of the challenge and expects his players to be ready for the occasion.
Arteta recognises Forest’s threat
Speaking via Arsenal Media, Arteta explained what his team must do to secure a positive result and highlighted the atmosphere Forest can generate at home.
“We’re going to try really hard to score goals and to prevent goals as well. It’s going to be a really tough match, they’re an extremely well-coached team. We know that, we already have experience with Oliver [Glasner] in the past and they’re a team that at home can create a really special momentum, so we are ready for it.”
