Arteta confirms Arsenal star will miss ‘a few weeks’ – and gives updates on others
Mikel Arteta has confirmed Christos Tzolis is set to miss several weeks with a muscle injury.
The winger picked up a hamstring issue while playing for Greece during the international break and is now set for a spell on the sidelines.
“Tzolis has a muscle injury as he’s going to be out for a few weeks,” the Arsenal boss said.
Declan Rice, meanwhile, has been dealing with fitness issues since returning from the World Cup, with Arteta hopeful the midfielder will still be available for the game against Leeds despite pulling out of the England squad.
“Yeah, we have to manage him because he’s had a few issues since he came back from the World Cup,” Arteta said.
“Hopefully tomorrow he’s available and some others also are in doubt.”
Arteta also provided updates on Kai Havertz and Ezri Konsa, who both returned from international duty early because of injury problems.
“With Kai, as he had a muscular injury, I spoke to Germany and they sent the player back as normal,” he said.
“Ezri, we had good communication with the England camp.
“We will see tomorrow (if they can play).”
