Arsenal star's agents seek bombshell transfer to Liverpool
We could well see one Arsenal star move to Liverpool. His agents have sought a move and made contact with the Reds.
Arsenal and Liverpool have found themselves as rivals over the last few years, even if they haven’t actually battled in a serious title race yet. The Gunners ultimately didn’t come close to stopping the Reds in 2025, while Liverpool’s efforts in 2026 were even worse.
Yet, there’s a sense that this is the title fight for the next few years. If Liverpool can sort themselves out anyway, and we wait on the outcome of Manchester City’s guilty verdict.
As a result, no one should really expect much transfer activity between the two. Even if you don’t rate one of your players, sending them to a rival who does rate them is a recipe for disaster. It usually just means you’re undervaluing your player, in fact.
But that’s not to say it’s impossible. One Arsenal star, it’s reported, has been in contact with Liverpool over a possible move.
Martin Zubimendi to Liverpool?
Liverpool tried to sign Martin Zubimendi in 2024 from Real Sociedad. It was Arne Slot's first summer and the Reds felt he was the ideal player for the new head coach.
Zubimendi, however, pulled out of the deal at the last minute and remained with La Real for another year. He'd then move to Arsenal in 2025, having decided to make a big move after all.
That ended successfully for Zubimendi to an extent. He was a key part of their Premier League title success but Arsenal have already replaced him. The Spaniard now barely plays and the Gunners are willing to sell.
We've already called that a mistake on their part and one that Liverpool should take advantage of. It appears the opportunity is there, too.
TeamTalk claim that Zubimendi's representatives have contacted Liverpool about a possible move. It's not really known if the Reds are willing to make an offer at this stage, nor can we say what the price tag would be, but there is a chance of it happening.
Zubimendi almost certainly moves in 2027. Liverpool almost certainly sign a midfielder, too. Whether that's a 27-year-old, though, is another matter - such a signing would go against everything they've been doing lately.
Still, we believe he's the ideal fit for this team and exactly what's needed in the middle. Honestly, if Zubimendi and Arsenal are willing, Liverpool would be silly not to bid.
