Arsenal record a stronger start than their title-winning season
A fierce battle with City
Arsenal have made a stronger start to the Premier League than they did last season, when they were crowned champions, after beating Everton 2-0 at home on Saturday in the eighth round.
The Gunners wasted no time. Defender Ezri Konsa opened the scoring in the seventh minute at the Emirates Stadium before Gabriel Magalhaes doubled the lead in the 68th.
CBS Sport statistics show Arsenal sit on 21 points after eight rounds this season, two more than the 19 they had collected at the same stage last term, a campaign they ended as Premier League champions.
That improved haul still leaves them second, level with Manchester City, who lead on goal difference.
