Arsenal receive major update on game-changing €50m January signing
Arsenal have reportedly been informed that a January deal for RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa remains highly unlikely, despite their intensified pursuit of his signature.
The Gunners bolstered Mikel Arteta’s attack with the addition of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge over the summer, but they failed to land a replacement for Gabriel Martinelli following his permanent move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal.
As a result, it has been widely reported that Arsenal will dip back into the transfer market to sign a new left winger in 2027, while they may also pursue a centre forward amid concerns over the long-term future of Viktor Gyokeres.
Kenan Yildiz (Juventus), Kevin Schade (Brentford) and Marcus Tavernier (Bournemouth) have all been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent weeks, and the club are also continuing to monitor Vinicius Junior’s situation at Real Madrid after failing to finalise a deal this summer.
However, Nusa has now emerged as a primary transfer target and it’s understood that club scouts are watching his performances for Leipzig with close interest as the north London giants consider a possible approach next year.
The Norway international has scored six goals and provided eight assists in just 15 games across all competitions so far this season, and he has stepped up to become Leipzig’s key attacker following the sale of Yan Diomande to Real Madrid over the summer.
The Sun have confirmed that Arsenal are keeping close tabs on Nusa’s form ahead of January, but a deal will be increasingly difficult to finalise as Leipzig currently have no interest in losing the 21-year-old during the winter transfer window.
The Bundesliga outfit are under no pressure to sanction a sale following the lucrative departure of Diomande, and Arsenal may therefore be forced to wait until next summer to bring Nusa to the Emirates Stadium.
Antonio Nusa: A game-changing signing for Arsenal?
Nusa, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) just shy of €50 million, has been linked with a Premier League switch for over a year and he is finally beginning to deliver on his potential in a Leipzig shirt.
The Norway star has firmly established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most dangerous forwards so far this season and while the aforementioned Tzolis has been a steady presence since his arrival at Arsenal, he doesn’t possess the raw talent of Nusa.
It’s understood that Arteta is eager to land a new superstar left winger in 2027 and based on recent evidence, Nusa could be the best option available on the market, especially if his current form continues.
