Andoni Iraola finds perfect midfielder for Liverpool, it's not Lamine Camara
Liverpool's midfield has received some mixed reviews this season.
Before the 2026-27 season kicked off, fans felt like new midfielders should be the first thing on Liverpool's priority list.
However, for one reason or another, that didn't end up being the case with the Reds actually making their midfield weaker by allowing Curtis Jones to exit Anfield and join Inter Milan.
Obviously, Liverpool's lack of depth in the middle of the park has meant that James McConnell and Trey Nyoni have both been handed more regular roles but, since they're both so young, the Reds could still do with adding a new central midfielder to their ranks.
And now, the perfect option for them to explore may have just emerged.
Liverpool are preparing an £83 million offer for Federico Valverde
Alexis Mac Allister has easily been Liverpool's best central midfielder this season.
Last term, that was a completely different story with fans demanding that the Argentinian was moved on this summer due to how poorly he performed.
However, after the 2026 World Cup, something just seemed to click for the 27-year-old and he returned back to his best.
But, since his contract is going to expire in June 2028 and no renewal is in sight, change is clearly afoot.
So, this latest update from Fichajes about the Reds' interest in Federico Valverde should certainly pique the interest of fans.
"Liverpool are interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde and are preparing a €100 million offer to secure his transfer in the upcoming summer transfer window," they wrote.
"Liverpool's primary target is a midfielder who can fill the void left by Alexis Mac Allister."
Federico Valverde would solve a lot of Liverpool's issues
Many different midfielders such as Lamine Camara have been linked with Liverpool recently.
And, while those rumours have stayed consistent, there's no hiding from the fact that Valverde would be a much better option for the Reds to explore.
Not only does he have a tonne of Champions League experience but, he's also been a part of one of football's best-ever teams for a number of years.
Obviously, the £83 million that Liverpool are willing to offer Real Madrid for Valverde's services may not be enough but, if it is, it would be money well spent.
His natural position is in the middle of the park but, Jose Mourinho has also used him as a right-back on several occasions this term.
Valverde's versatility, coupled with the experience he has make him a more or less perfect player for the Reds to target.
