Alonso says Estevao will get his chance at Chelsea and dismisses loan exit talk
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has said there has been 'no discussion' around a loan exit for Estevao Willian in January transfer window.
Estevao is understood to be frustrated with his lack of minutes under the new head coach and has not started a Premier League fixture this season.
The arrival of Morgan Rogers and a change in formation under Alonso have restricted the 19-year-old to only 47 minutes of Premier League football.
Estevao has been linked with a loan exit in January, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly considering an approach, The European champions have been credited with interest in Estevao on a temporary deal, after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia sustained an ACL injury.
Speaking ahead of this lunchtime's clash with Manchester United, Alonso insisted that Estevao has a role to play this season.
"Yeah, sure he will play. The season is long and there will be opportunities for everyone. He will have his minutes. We are still early in the season but he will be there," Alonso said at his pre-match press conference.
"It is not about attitude, it is about the context of games. He is a great guy. We are still in October and he will be important.
"It's no secret that all players want to be on the pitch and playing. I have to take responsibility for that [happiness]. Everyone has to be ready. Every game is important. Este is training and his attitude has been good."
