‘A special moment’: Arbeloa proud as Fulham teen Josh King gets England squad nod
Alvaro Arbeloa has said everyone at Fulham is delighted after Josh King earned a first call-up to the England squad.
King has been selected by Thomas Tuchel for November's UEFA Nations League games against Croatia and Spain. The 19-year-old has been rewarded after an impressive start to the season, in which he has scored twice and provided an assist in nine Premier League games.
King has been on Tuchel's radar for some time, having featured regularly at youth level. He was invited to train with the senior squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup in the summer. His inclusion comes ahead of established names including Cole Palmer and Phil Foden, who have each been omitted from the latest group.
The midfielder has been with Fulham since the age of eight and Arbeloa said his call-up is a special moment for all involved at Craven Cottage.
Speaking to the media before Saturday's Premier League game at home to Newcastle, Arbeloa said: "It's a special moment for him and also for us as a club and our supporters.
"He came to this club when he was eight years old and now you look at how he is playing and performing, so yes, we are really proud.
"It's a big step for him and I am so happy for him because he is a very humble kid. You can see every day he wants to improve every. So it's a special moment for him and for us."
