A €30m steal, Liverpool have green light to sign elite talent
Liverpool have got the chance to snap up one of the world's most exciting young talents. A €30m steal, no less.
Liverpool are on a mission to find elite young talent. Some have been locked down already, with the likes of Jeremy Jacquet thriving in the first-team team right and looking set for a long, exciting future.
Then there are others who have agreed to join down the line. Liverpool struck two deals a year in advance this summer, and they're currently looking to find more.
It's quite clearly a major plan at Anfield right now. They want to build their next first-team - or at least the core of it - a long time in advance and that means paying fairly large sums on what are essentially gambles.
Now they've found another one.
Gilberto Mora is an elite option
There’s rightly a lot of hype around Gilberto Mora right now. The 17-year-old was the youngest player at the summer’s World Cup and then he grabbed his first international goal during this break.
And what a goal it was.
Mora is expected to leave Tijuana shortly. In fact, the only reason he’s stuck around there is because he can’t move before turning 18 but January represents a golden opportunity for him to depart.
Liverpool’s long-standing interest will put them in a strong position to get him and it seems Tijuana are ready to sell. Journalist Cesar Luis Merlo reports on his YouTube channel that Mora can move for between €20m and €30m next year.
That may well be a steal. Mora is playing well beyond his years and does look like the kind of player who develops steadily and consistently - he’s not dependent on pace, has strong technique, and is already capable of playing against elite professionals.
That green light at €30m looks like a fantastic deal, really. Liverpool are in the mix and have been for months - now’s their opportunity to snap him up.
So keep an eye on this one. Mora may well arrive as one of the most exciting prospects in years.
