€117m superstar makes Man Utd transfer admission
Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has revealed that he has no interest in joining Manchester United next year, despite the Red Devils’ rumoured pursuit of his signature.
The Spain international, 23, has been linked with a Premier League switch for several years and it’s understood that Man Utd are the latest club who want to sign him as they look to land a suitable long-term replacement for club captain Bruno Fernandes.
Chelsea are also believed to have rekindled their interest in Fermin, having failed to secure a deal in 2025, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that a Camp Nou exit won’t be permitted by Hansi Flick, while Fermin himself has now downplayed reports of a potential transfer by confirming his love for Barcelona.
“I don’t pay attention to that kind of news,” Fermin told reporters when asked about interest from Man Utd after Barcelona’s 6-1 win over Alaves on Saturday.
“I want to stay here at Barca as long as possible… and I hope to end my football career at this club and to retire in Barcelona shirt.”
Fermin has scored six goals and provided six assists in 13 games across all competitions so far this season, and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at a career-high of €116.5 million thanks to his impressive form over the past 12 months.
Who will Man Utd sign in 2027?
While a deal for Fermin is off the table, Man Utd are expected to be busy in the transfer market next year, with a new left-back and a new centre-back understood to be their two main priorities.
Newcastle United star Lewis Hall remains their dream left-back signing, despite the fact he recently extended his contract at St James’ Park, although the club have stepped up their pursuit of Barcelona star Alejandro Balde amid his lack of game time so far this season.
Meanwhile, Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite continues to be linked with an Old Trafford switch as the club look to land a replacement for Lisandro Martinez, who is set to depart in 2027.
A new centre forward may also be purchased, with Club Brugge attacker Nicolo Tresoldi recently emerging as a possible signing after scoring 13 goals in his first 15 appearances of the new season.
