Manchester City's perfect start has collapsed, Tottenham have finally conquered Stamford Bridge and Manchester United are plumbing depths not seen in four decades.
Gameweek 8 of the 2026-27 Premier League season delivered plenty of drama, but the numbers behind the results are even more extraordinary.
Here are 10 statistics you might have missed.
1. Villa become City's bogey team
Aston Villa's 2-1 victory completed three consecutive Premier League wins over Manchester City for the first time since 1966. Nicolas Jackson's double also ended City's seven-match winning start, denying them an eighth consecutive victory.
2. Spurs finally conquer Stamford Bridge
Tottenham's 2-0 triumph was just their second Premier League victory at Stamford Bridge in 35 attempts. Their previous success came in April 2018, while their last away win over Chelsea accompanied by a clean sheet in any competition was back in December 1986.
3. Villa love upsetting league leaders
Villa Park has become a graveyard for Premier League leaders. Aston Villa have won three of their last four home matches against teams starting the day top of the table, beating Arsenal twice and Manchester City, while drawing 2-2 with Liverpool.
4. Bournemouth extend United's misery
Bournemouth's 3-0 victory extended their unbeaten Premier League sequence against Manchester United to seven matches. The Cherries have now scored at least twice in four consecutive league visits to Old Trafford, a feat previously achieved by only Manchester City and Brighton.
5. United hit a 40-year low
Michael Carrick's side have collected just seven points from their opening eight Premier League matches, their worst return at this stage since 1986-87, when they managed only four. United have also gone eight matches without victory in all competitions.
6. Gabriel's remarkable milestone
Gabriel celebrated his 200th Premier League appearance with his 21st goal in Arsenal's 2-0 victory over Everton. No defender has scored more Premier League goals since the Brazilian made his competition debut in 2020.
7. Chelsea's century of shame
Cole Palmer's dismissal against Tottenham was Chelsea's 100th Premier League red card, excluding rescinded dismissals. Only Everton and Arsenal had previously reached that unwanted milestone.
8. A goalkeeping nightmare
Mike Penders became just the second Chelsea goalkeeper to score a Premier League own goal, following Petr Cech in December 2009. At 21 years and 85 days, Penders is also the competition's second-youngest goalkeeper to suffer that fate.
9. Arsenal rediscover their set-piece threat
Ezri Konsa's seventh-minute opener against Everton ended Arsenal's 12-match drought without a non-penalty set-piece goal across all competitions. The reigning champions had previously gone seven league matches without scoring from a corner.
10. City's defensive cracks exposed
Manchester City conceded just eight goals in their opening nine matches across all competitions this season. They have now shipped nine in their last four, with Villa exposing costly mistakes from Marc Guehi and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
