What has changed for the Netherlands since the last international break
Xavi has named the Netherlands squad for the upcoming Nations League group-stage internationals, making several changes from the previous international break.
Despite his strong form for Feyenoord, Luciano Valente has missed out again. Xavi has also overlooked Matthijs de Ligt, who has returned to Manchester United, FC Twente forward Wout Weghorst and Memphis Depay. Gjivai Zechiel, Mexx Meerdink and Ruben van Bommel have all been called up.
Back in the Netherlands squad is Frenkie de Jong. The 70-cap international last played at the World Cup, when Morocco knocked the Netherlands out in the round of 32. Donyell Malen, who is in form at AS Roma, also last played for the Netherlands at the World Cup.
At Sunderland, who are bottom of the Premier League, Brian Brobbey is enduring a difficult season. Xavi has still found a place for the former Ajax player, who played against Germany in September (1-1) before withdrawing through injury.
Injuries have ruled several players out of this international break. Ryan Gravenberch missed Liverpool's last two matches, while Jorrel Hato is unavailable against Greece and Germany because of a minor injury.
Although Kenneth Taylor and Lazio are top of Serie A, and he plays an important role in Gennaro Gattuso's team, Xavi has not called him up. The former Ajax midfielder played just 23 minutes during the previous international break.
The Netherlands lead Group B of the Nations League with eight points from their first four internationals under head coach Xavi.
