Ronaldo struck in the 42nd minute of the second half, hammering home from inside the penalty area for Al Nassr's second. It was his first goal of this season's AFC Champions League Elite.

That made it five across all competitions this season and number 981 of his career. Just 19 more and the dream of 1,000 is his.

Less than a minute later, the visitors thought they had one back. The referee went to the video technology and chalked it off. Then Al Nassr's Spanish defender Inigo Martinez squared up to a Neftchi player.

Out came a yellow card for each of them, plus a warning not to do it again, and the game settled back down.
