A rare goalscoring phenomenon!

Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhães of Arsenal continued to build his scoring record in the Premier League, against Everton this Saturday evening, as part of the eighth round of the competition.

Arsenal bared their teeth early at the Emirates. Ezri Konsa opened the scoring after just seven minutes, before Gabriel Magalhães doubled the lead in the 68th minute.

With that strike, Gabriel became the highest-scoring centre-back in the Premier League since his debut in September 2020, according to a statistic published by the CBS Sports account on X.

The Brazilian has racked up 21 goals in the Premier League over that span, pulling clear of Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk on 18. Everton's Michael Keane sits third with 14, according to the figures in the same statistic.

Arsenal pounced on Manchester City's 2-1 slip against Aston Villa to draw level on points (21), keeping the pressure firmly on Enzo Maresca's side, who stay top on goal difference.
