René van der Gijp has serious doubts about Joey Veerman's prospects at Borussia Dortmund and Mika Godts' prospects at Paris Saint-Germain. The Vandaag Inside pundit believes both will struggle to stand out at the highest level of European football.

At Borussia Dortmund, Van der Gijp doubts former PSV player Veerman has the qualities to lead the club.

Van der Gijp first revisited PSV's and Feyenoord's Champions League matches on Thursday evening's Vandaag Inside. PSV lost 1-0 to RB Leipzig, while Feyenoord beat Como 3-2. "I thought both PSV and Feyenoord were a tremendous advert for the Champions League," said Van der Gijp.

Of Feyenoord, Van der Gijp said: "Whichever way you look at it, I think it's hugely impressive to have the upper hand at times against the team third in Italy." He added: "And the same goes for PSV. We only saw one half, but they had the upper hand in that too. If you score that penalty, there's no problem at all."

Van der Gijp questions Godts' PSG prospects

Last summer, Feyenoord reportedly reached a €42 million agreement with Al-Ittihad for Anis Hadj Moussa, but the forward stayed in Rotterdam. Van der Gijp would consider that an excellent fee for the Algerian.

"I also think €42 million to €45 million is a good fee for Hadj Moussa, because I don't think he'll end up at Paris Saint-Germain. They've already been taken aback by Godts, too. They must be thinking to themselves: good grief...," said Van der Gijp.

Veerman left PSV for Borussia Dortmund last summer for around €20 million to €25 million. Van der Gijp drew a comparison: "I'll keep saying what I always say. It applies to Veerman too. Dortmund have no use for the Veerman who played at PSV. He has to take a step up. And he won't take that step, because he's already too old for that (almost 28, ed.)."

At Europe's top clubs, Van der Gijp believes foreign players face additional pressure. "You can see at Dortmund now that those people... Look, when things aren't going well, people look to the foreigners. They're foreigners, and a fortune has been paid for them. And he isn't going to lead Dortmund. Absolutely not."
