Tuchel hails ‘extraordinary’ Kane as England captain prepares to set all-time appearance record
Thomas Tuchel has said England will celebrate 'an extraordinary player' as Harry Kane prepares to break the Three Lions' all-time record for appearances.
Kane will make his 126th appearance for England against Croatia in the UEFA Nations League next week, moving ahead of Peter Shilton to take the outright record, after equalling the goalkeeper's mark last camp.
Kane is already England's record scorer with 91 goals, the seventh-highest total in men's international football history.
The 33-year-old's record-breaking feats continue an incredible period for Kane, who became England's first Ballon d'Or winner in 25 years last month. Kane has also signed a new deal at Bayern Munich this week.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Tuchel said this month's fixtures are a chance to celebrate Kane and his achievements, though highlighted the importance of results for England.
"Just an incredible achievement that these two occasions come together one after the other and we are able to witness this.
"He wins the Ballon d'Or, deservedly so, and then gets the all-time record for England with 126 appearances in his next Engalnd game.
"It's an important match for us. It is a crucial match for us, to set up a final in Spain after.
"So it is a deserved frame and a deserved occasion to celebrate an extraordinary player."
