The captain in the firing line: Zamalek fans continue their attacks on Ahmed Fatouh
What is happening at the White Castle?
Zamalek fans have continued their attacks on team captain Ahmed Fattouh, despite qualifying for the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
The White Knights booked their place in the African competition's group stage on Saturday, edging Rwanda's APR 1-0 in the second leg of the round of 32 after winning the first leg by the same scoreline.
At the final whistle, the Zamalek supporters inside the Cairo International Stadium aimed hostile chants at Fattouh, leaving the left-back visibly furious.
It was the second time in a row that the fans had turned on the international, with no clear reason behind the repeated abuse.
Zamalek's return to the Champions League group stage ends a three-year absence. In that time they contested the CAF Confederation Cup, lifting the title once and finishing runners-up on another occasion.
Domestically, Zamalek sit third in the Egyptian league on 16 points, five behind leaders Pyramids and a single point adrift of second-placed Al Ahly.
