"That's why everyone hates you": the criticism returns to besiege Vinicius despite his suspension
A full year after the incident: what happened with the Brazilian star?
Sevilla's Juan Iglesias will not get his rematch with Vinicius Junior at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday. The Real Madrid forward is serving a four-match ban handed down by La Liga.
La Liga confirmed the four-game suspension last Wednesday, punishing Vinicius for pulling the hair of Villarreal's Nathan Salibah in his side's previous league outing, an incident that got him sent off.
Newspaper "AS" has dug up a flashpoint between the pair that went viral a year ago, on 19 October 2025, when the current Sevilla man was at Getafe.
The scene was the Coliseum, where Real Madrid won 1-0 through Kylian Mbappe. After a string of heated exchanges between the two, the "Movistar+" cameras picked up Iglesias telling the Brazilian: "That's why everyone hates you. Learn from your teammates."
Iglesias, then a Getafe player, expanded on it in the mixed zone, as the Madrid-based paper also reported: "In football, there are many incidents and clashes. They are part of the game, part of football, part of the players, and they always stay on the pitch."
He added: "But there are things that cannot be overlooked. I asked his teammates to teach him respect. The opponent must be respected, others must be respected. And when they are not respected, these problems break out, and nobody likes them."
