What awaits Al-Ahly after the Asian Cup postponement?

Al-Ittihad's management have begun reviewing their arrangements after recent changes to the domestic schedule forced a rethink of the team's programme, including the training camp abroad planned for next January.

Sources at "Arriyadiyah" say the postponement of Matchday 13, together with expected changes to Saudi Pro League fixture dates, has pushed club officials to reconsider their winter preparation plan. They had picked the Spanish city of Marbella to host the camp.

According to those sources, the final picture on timing and details will only become clear once the Saudi Pro League announces its amended schedule over the next few days.

Marbella had been the choice for the winter gathering after the Spanish city staged Al-Ittihad's summer camp at the start of the current season.

It all follows Tuesday morning's decision by the Asian Football Confederation to postpone the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. The tournament had been set to begin in Saudi Arabia next January, but will now run from December 2027 to January.

With the new programme still up in the air, German coach Jens Vissing has handed Al-Ittihad's players just a five-day break.
