Succeeding Mbappe hands Olise a multi-million-pound boost
Nike have struck a sponsorship agreement with Bayern Munich star Michael Olise, making him one of the leading faces of their football boot line.
The French winger has signed a multi-million euro contract with Nike, according to AS newspaper, citing the Footy Headlines website.
By signing Olise, Nike are looking to fill the void left by his compatriot Kylian Mbappe, the Real Madrid star.
Mbappe recently surprised everyone by walking away from Nike to join Swiss company On.
Olise's arrival is a particularly significant step, given his distinctive relationship with football boots. Until now, the France international had turned down offers from the biggest brands, wanting to keep his freedom to choose what he wears on his feet.
His preference was the Nike Hypervenom Phantom III, a model out of production since 2019. He bought pairs online and had them shipped to him from all over the world. On occasion, he hired artists to customise the design before wearing them in training and matches.
This may be more than a routine commercial agreement. The same Footy Headlines report says Nike plan to relaunch the famous Hypervenom line in 2027 with Olise as the standout star of the campaign, while production of the Phantom range comes to an end.
Hypervenom first launched in 2013, and the name was associated back then with Brazilian star Neymar.
