Serie B: Hellas Verona and Catanzaro draw 2-2, is Gorgone’s job safe?

A draw at the Bentegodi in Friday’s opening fixture of the seventh round of Serie B

Friday's early kick-off in the seventh round of the Serie B season saw Marco Baroni's Hellas Verona and Giorgio Gorgone's Catanzaro draw 2-2. The point takes Hellas Verona to eight in the table and Catanzaro to four.

For the hosts, it's a slip-up that slows their pursuit of the top places. For the visitors, the draw is a breath of fresh air, especially for Gorgone, whose job would have been seriously at risk had they lost.

The goals

Catanzaro took the lead in the 11th minute through Candela, before the Verona side turned it around with a Mosquera brace in the 37th and 67th minutes. The Calabrian side equalised through Pecorino from the penalty spot in the 75th minute.
