Richarlison remains frozen out as Tottenham exit collapses
Richarlison turned down a permanent move to Vasco da Gama despite the Brazilian club agreeing terms with Tottenham, leaving the forward stuck in North London after the window shut. The 29-year-old’s rejection of the deal has been confirmed by Vasco sporting director Admar Lopes, adding yet another chapter to a saga that has left his Tottenham exit going nowhere fast.
Vasco pushed until the final day of the window trying to get their man home, according to Lopes. It follows an earlier link with a return to Everton and a late move to Trabzonspor that also failed to materialise, leaving Richarlison’s contract situation as unresolved as ever.

Lopes said Vasco made a genuine, formal purchase offer and did everything within their power to convince Richarlison to return to Brazil.
“We tried everything. We genuinely made a purchase offer, but what happened is that the player did not accept the terms of a permanent transfer,” Lopes said, quotes via CaughtOffside. “We tried until the last day, everything within our power to convince him, but the player refused and said it was not the right time to return to Brazil.”
Frozen out under De Zerbi
None of this makes life easier at Tottenham, where Richarlison remains completely frozen out by Roberto De Zerbi. The Italian left the forward out of the club’s official 25-man Premier League squad after he made his desire to leave clear during pre-season, a decision covered in detail regarding his squad omission.
De Zerbi went further, ruling him out of domestic cup football too. “Richarlison will NOT play even if he’s available. Not even in the Carabao Cup, no,” he said. Richarlison responded publicly on social media questioning his total exile, though the relationship with his manager appears beyond repair for now.
With the Vasco route closed off and no other exit materialising, Richarlison stays at Spurs, sidelined and effectively frozen out until at least January, when the situation could plausibly be revisited.
