Renna praises Primavera’s performance after return to winning ways: “We needed three points”

AC Milan’s Primavera returned to winning ways this afternoon, with a very welcome victory against Cagliari and Giovanni Renna has offered his thoughts.

At the Puma House of Football, Milan will have been glad to see things turn around after a difficult few weeks. Before today’s win, they hadn’t avoided defeat since September 6th – when they beat Juventus – so this ends a pretty long run of poor form.

Nevertheless, their performance was assured, remaining ahead at 1-0 and then controlling the game after the red card and penalty. A textbook performance from a side that have been anything but that in recent weeks.

Renna’s comments

Speaking to the club’s official channels after full-time, via MilanNews, the Primavera head coach spoke about the need for a win and what impressed him about the team.

Satisfied with the victory?

“It was a good performance: we needed these three points. In the end, they arrived, and I think they were more than deserved. We’re happy, and now we’ll be thinking about the next match starting Monday.”

What did you like most?

“The team’s character, definitely. We’d played three games where we’d put in a good performance, but unfortunately, we hadn’t scored any points. The boys responded very well today, sticking to our principles, and I’m very satisfied. It was a great performance.”

The hope will now be that this win extends to two games when they travel to face Fiorentina next weekend. Considering the Viola are yet to win this season, you’d have a lot of hope for that.
