Kaj Sierhuis was visibly irritated by manager Dick Schreuder's decisions on Thursday evening. The striker began warming up against Levski Sofia (1-1), but did not come on.

After joining NEC on a free transfer from Fortuna Sittard last summer, Sierhuis has yet to find consistent success in Nijmegen.

Sierhuis has started just one VriendenLoterij Eredivisie match, against SC Cambuur (a 3-0 defeat). He has come off the bench three times and been an unused substitute just as often.

On Thursday, Schreuder started Bryan Linssen against Levski Sofia, leaving Sierhuis on the bench. He did, however, let Sierhuis 'complete an entire warm-up', according to NEC reporter Maurice de Mandt of RN7 Online .

Schreuder ultimately decided not to bring on the former Ajax, FC Groningen and Heracles player, leaving Sierhuis still waiting for his Europa League debut.

"In the 89th minute, Sierhuis had to sit down again. The striker is visibly irritated," said De Mandt. NEC fans also struggled to understand why he stayed on the bench.

With the score at 1-1, fans on X said Bryan Linssen was visibly tired. Fans in the stadium also chanted Sierhuis's name a few minutes before the end.
