Navarro reflects on Milan Futuro’s frustrating draw and expresses delight over senior call-ups
Sergio Navarro was happy with the performance from Milan Futuro right up until the final minutes, when they let their lead slip.
The Futuro were leading for most of the game against Club Milano, but had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The away side even went down to 10 men but they stayed in the game until injury time, when they equalised from a rebound after a free-kick.
It was a frustrating result for the Rossoneri who were not able to build on last weekend’s impressive victory against Chievo Verona. However, given that multiple players have been called up to the senior side due to the ongoing injury crisis, the ranks had been depleted.
After the match, coach Navarro spoke to the club’s microphones to give his thoughts on the performance, which were relayed by MilanNews.
How do you assess the match?
“We’re happy with the boys’ performance. They played a good game in the first half. We need to learn to manage after their sending-off, because we didn’t play well. This is the result, it’s a draw, and we need to keep working and improving.”
A few players have been loaned to the first team, and Borsa made his debut…
“We’re working towards this. We’re super happy that some of the guys will be with the first team. There are so many of them and they’re ready to play, why not? And we’re waiting for them to be able to help the first team. We’re working towards this, for the talent in the academy.
“Gabriele [Borsa] is a talent and we want to help him understand more. Today he played well in these minutes for us. We’re happy, I’m happy for him for his debut with the future. We’re working hard and there’s a lot of work to do.”
