Lamine Yamal breaks Kylian Mbappe's record: The teenagers with the most Champions League goals
Lamine Yamal has broken more records than we care to count, and the Barcelona superstar shattered another after scoring in the Champions League this weekend.
Yamal's opener in Barcelona's 3-0 win over Aston Villa at Camp Nou saw him surpass Kylian Mbappe's milestone for the most Champions League goals by a teenager.
The 19-year-old doesn't leave his teens until the summer, giving him plenty of opportunity to extend his new record.
The teenagers with the most Champions League goals
=5. Jude Bellingham - 6
Jude Bellingham got his first taste of Champions League football at Borussia Dortmund as a teenager, becoming the youngest Englishman to start a fixture in the competition in 2020, aged 17 years and 113 days.
He scored six Champions League goals as a teenager, all with Dortmund, before moving to Real Madrid in 2023.
=5. Karim Benzema - 6
Only three players have scored more Champions League goals than Karim Benzema, who has netted 90 times in 152 career appearances in the competition.
Benzema scored six times as a teenager for first club Lyon, before winning five Champions League titles after a high-profile move to Real Madrid.
=5. Raul Gonzalez - 6
Raul burst onto the scene as a teenager at Real Madrid, becoming the club's youngest debutant and scoring his first senior goal on his second appearance.
The Spanish striker still holds the record as the youngest scorer of a Champions League hat-trick after netting three times against Ferencváros, aged 18 years and 114 days, in 1995.
4. Patrick Kluivert - 7
One of the Champions League's most famous wonderkids, Patrick Kluivert is one of only four teenagers to have scored in a final, the youngest to have done so, and the only teen to score a winning goal.
The Dutchman's late winner against AC Milan crowned Ajax champions of Europe in 1995, as the 18-year-old stabbed home the decider.
3. Erling Haaland - 10
Erling Haaland's goal record in the Champions League is, frankly, absurd. It all started on debut with a hat-trick for Red Bull Salzburg as a 19-year-old, and he reached double figures before his 20th birthday.
Haaland only played eight Champions League games as a teenager, but scored 10 goals.
2. Kylian Mbappe - 13
Kylian Mbappe scored 13 goals as a teenager, achieved in 23 appearances. The French forward was part of an exciting Monaco side that reached the semi-finals in 2016/17, scoring six times in nine appearances.
He became Paris Saint-Germain's record scorer after a move to the capital that summer, before a transfer to Real Madrid. He's currently the fifth-highest scorer in Champions League history.
1. Lamine Yamal - 14*
Lamine Yamal has broken Mbappe's record after scoring his 14th Champions League goal this week. The Spaniard has already made 37 appearances in Europe's top competition and could close in on a half-century before leaving his teens.
Yamal's 14 goals have seen him move level with Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo Nazario for career Champions League goals.
*Lamine Yamal does not turn 20 until 13th July 2027.
