Dejan Kulusevski has offered Tottenham another encouraging sign in his recovery, looking sharp in training after more than 500 days out with a complicated right-knee patella injury. A goal from an Andy Robertson cross is welcome evidence of his work, but Spurs have not confirmed when he will play again.

Positive signs in training

Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold highlighted the footage in his Football London reporting, later relayed by CaughtOffside. Kulusevski was involved in rondos, taking passes in the middle and moving the ball on, before finishing from Robertson’s low cross during a training game.

That is a useful glimpse of his progress, not a fitness clearance. Tottenham have taken a cautious approach to his rehabilitation, and a sharp moment in a session cannot tell supporters when he will be ready for competitive minutes. His gradual return to training remains the relevant measure for now.

Selection still to come

Kulusevski travelled with the squad for the 1-1 draw at Manchester United but was not included in the matchday squad. His presence with the group was another step in the process, rather than confirmation that he was available to play.

Tottenham will want him fully prepared before selecting him, particularly after an absence stretching beyond 500 days. The footage shows him participating in team work and finding the net; it does not establish how his knee will respond to the demands of a match.

There is still no confirmed date for his competitive return, and neither the latest training clip nor his trip to Manchester identifies a specific match as his target. The next meaningful update will be whether De Zerbi includes him in a squad, with his training progress and return timeline still to be judged by Tottenham’s staff.
