“Keeping an eye on young players” – Moretto names January target alongside Inacio

AC Milan could sign another young defender for the first team in January, according to a report from Matteo Moretto.

As the winter mercato nears, Milan will be focused on adding a first-team defender to lessen the pressure on the current options. However, they will not only look for experience. Although Endrick is something of a middle ground, he’s still a player for the future, rather than being a finished product.

In other words, the signings may still be players with a ceiling, even if they are ready to make an impact.

A new name for the defence

This afternoon, Moretto provided an update on the situation involving Timmo Hardung, but that’s not all. In fact, he also gave some information on the January mercato, with the Rossoneri looking to sign a young talent from Belgium, as MilanVibes relays.

“AC Milan are looking to acquire a central defender and strengthen their defence with a new player. Gonçalo Inacio remains among the most popular players for January, especially for coach Amorim.

“The club is also working on other younger players. AC Milan is closely monitoring other options. The management is interested in Union Saint-Gilloise’s Massiré Sylla, 21, whose contract expires in 2030.

“He’s a regular starter for the Belgian team and is demonstrating great quality even in this early part of the season. There’s a lot of good talk about him. Among the various teams interested in the player is AC Milan.

“The Rossoneri are clearly also looking for experienced players to make an immediate contribution and further enhance Amorim’s squad, but they’re also keeping an eye on some young players like Sylla.”

Considering how well Sankhoun Diawara has adapted in his first few months, the current scouting network in that part of Europe is certainly spotting the right profiles.
