Kasper Hogh needs a goal and we need to give him our full backing

Kasper Hogh was heralded as a superb signing for Celtic when he put pen to paper on a record £11 million deal in the summer.

The Danish international had been a long term target for the club, with a bid to land the Bodo/Glimt man in January failing to materialise due to the Norwegian sides reluctance to part with their star striker due to their participation in the latter stages of the Champions League.

Kasper eventually signed for the club much to the delight of the supporters, and rightly so due to his impressive goalscoring record, especially at the highest level of European football.

Unfortunately for the 25 year old and the supporters he hasn’t got off to the best of starts in a Celtic shirt, and despite a terrific hat trick against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, he’s failed to show his true ability as he struggles to live up to that massive price tag.

But in Kasper’s defence, he’s only a few months into his Celtic career and naturally needs time to acclimatise to his new surroundings. He’s still getting chances in front of goal, he just needs a bit of luck, and much better service from his teammates wouldn’t go amiss either.

The overwhelming majority of Celtic supporters were desperate for the club to sign Kasper, and if he were allowed to slip through our fingers yet again, then the pitchforks would have well and truly been out in force.

The very reason the supporters wanted Kasper Hogh in a Celtic shirt is due to his undoubted ability in front of goal.

He’s a proven striker as his record testifies. He’s going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment, but fully deserves our backing starting shortly as Celtic get ready to take on Motherwell at Fir Park with Kasper Hogh leading the line.

It’s time to give him our vocal support not criticism, starting in today. He will come good in time, don’t worry about that, but in the meantime let’s be patient and give him our full backing and help him reach his peak goalscoring form.
