Borussia Dortmund star Maximilian Beier reveals he practices the kind of shot he pulled off to score against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

The 24-year-old forward came off the bench to score the only goal of the game in the 80th minute, unleashing a rasping effort from outside the box to down a gritty Frankfurt side.

Beier's goal was straight out of the top-drawer, a finish of highest standards that can put even the best scorers to shame. But it wasn't fortuitous shot either.

He revealed after the game that it's born from having practiced during his training drills. Speaking to the press, Beier said:

I practice those shots a lot in training. Of course, I’m happy that it went in like that.

Ramy Bensebaini found Beier on the left with a pass from the back, which he then played it forward to fellow substitute Jobe Bellingham. The Englishman raced ahead with it before evading his marker to find Beier, who had signaled to him while sprinting near the box. Upon receiving the pass, Beier took a touch before curling a sweet strike into the far corner.

Dortmund finally had their breakthrough after missing their earlier chances and saw out the remainder of the clash rather nervously to emerge victorious for the first time in three league games and a second time last week, having beaten Sabah FK 2-1 in the Champions League four days earlier.

Beier added that being confident in their ability till the end proved vital.

Believing in [our ability to score late] is the most important thing. If you don’t believe in it, you've already failed.

After winning six games in a row before the international break, Dortmund had struggled to keep that up since resuming their season this month and went three official matches without a win, including back-to-back draws in the Bundesliga. However, with two wins from two last week, normalcy seems to be returning to the side once again although the jury is still out on the quality of their display.

Against Sabah, Niko Kovac's side won by just 2-1 in spite of creating a host of chances before relying on Beier's individual brilliance off the bench to beat Frankfurt 1-0. The player acknowledges that it's been a rough time for the club lately but emphasized their love for the game.

It’s been a demanding few weeks so far, but we all love the game and being out on the field.
