How to watch NYCFC’s final match of the season against D.C. United and more
Sometimes good teams have bad seasons. Sometimes, the poor results do not make sense. Sometimes, teams continue to drop out of winning positions. And in this case, sometimes that team is New York City FC. Dropped points, scoring struggles, giving up late goals, and injuries have ultimately led the Pigeons to a poor year. After the draw with CF Montréal last week, the team is officially eliminated from making the playoffs. As such, they enter Decision Day with a meaningless game against D.C. United.
However, while the match is meaningless on paper, it is not meaningless in the sense that a win to end the season would be a small positive in a field of negatives. It would give NYCFC fans something to celebrate. The same thing can be said for D.C. since the 14th-place team is also playing their final game on Decision Day. In other words, this could be a battle of two sides who have nothing left to play for other than giving their fans one more win and the pride of their club.
Oh, and the Bronx side also has another thing to play for. The team has only finished with single-digit wins once in their history. That was in 2023, when they finished with nine wins. This year, they also have nine at this time. So, there is only one more fixture to play to ensure that they at least win ten matches.
It is still difficult to know what will happen on Decision Day. NYCFC lost to D.C. earlier this season. They also have not won at Audi Field since 2022. So, can the Boys in Blue do what most are likely not expecting them to do, and pick up one final win in 2026? The doubt is there, but some hope lives on.

Final notes
There is a big question about who will start for NYCFC on Saturday. Will younger players like Jonathan Shore get a chance? Will those who are possibly leaving, as said by the players themselves, like Keaton Parks, play one more time? Will Pascal Jansen just go with his usual players?
