Harry Kane drops big hint on his future after winning Ballon d’Or
Harry Kane became the first English player since Michael Owen in 2001 to win the Ballon d’Or.
The 33-year-old Bayern Munich striker was crowned the world’s best player at a ceremony in London, and became the fifth Englishman to win this prestigious award.
Real Madrid and France forward Kylian Mbappe finished second, while Barcelona and Spain star Lamine Yamal finished third.
Harry Kane drops hint about his future
Kane enjoyed a phenomenal 2025–26 season, where he scored 61 goals in 51 club matches. Including international games, it was 73 goals and eight assists in 65 matches.
At the award ceremony, Kane was asked whether he would be tempted to return to the Premier League to break Alan Shearer’s record.
Kane admitted once again that he is very happy in Germany, and wants to win more trophies with Bayern, including the Champions League.
The Bayern striker said: ” Not at the moment, not right now. I’m loving life in Munich, Bayern are such a great club. We have an amazing team, great coach, so yeah, right now that’s where my focus is, and I’m extremely happy. And to be winning awards like this, it just shows why I made the move in the first place.
“Of course, there’s always ambitions, there’s always dreams for new achievements, new things. I still have a lot to achieve in this game, the Champions League from club level, winning a major trophy with England, this is the number one priority. So there’s so many great things I want to achieve, and I’m learning that in a career, in life, you don’t really have much of a say, you just have to go with the flow, see where it takes you, believe in what you’re going to do. Like I did making the move, and then just go full gas and, right now, it’s with Munich, and yeah, we’ll see where that takes me.”
Harry Kane expects to sign new Bayern contract
Kane also became the first Bayern player to win the Ballon d’Or since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981, and he received a great welcome from his teammates upon returning to the club.
The England striker has a contract at Bayern until 2027, and he is yet to sign a new contract.
Kane wants to stay at Bayern and win more trophies, and he is expected to sign a new deal shortly.
The striker has not closed his doors to a potential return to the Premier League, but the chances of happening are unlikely.
