Florenzi reveals what Maignan and Bartesaghi told him after ‘needed’ derby win
Alessandro Florenzi has revealed that he spoke to two of his former team-mates after the derby win over Inter.
It was a big win for AC Milan on Saturday night at San Siro as they bounced back from the defeat to Bologna in the best possible way, scoring three times in the first half to overcome their city rivals for the fourth straight time.
The win left Gerry Cardinale feeling emotional, such was the magnitude. Diego Moreira was the start of the show with a goal and two assists, but everyone to a man put in a serious shift to ensure an eighth straight derby without defeat.
Florenzi was part of the Sky panel that covered the match at San Siro, and he revealed that he had a conversation with two players in the current squad as they headed off at full-time. His words are via Goal.
“I spoke to Maignan and Bartesaghi before they went back into the tunnel. They were happy and made it clear to me that they needed this win. They needed it for their morale, to keep going on a path that isn’t easy,” he said.
“The Milan side we saw tonight certainly give cause for optimism and, as they were also saying in the studio, Rabiot and Pulisic are, for me, the leaders on the pitch whom Milan struggle to do without. Moreira also had an outstanding game.”
