Five Chelsea Women players make FIFPRO’s 26-player Women’s World 11 shortlist
Hannah Hampton, Lucy Bronze, Ellie Carpenter, Katie McCabe and Aggie Beever-Jones are all finalists for FIFPRO's 2026 Women's World 11. Professional players worldwide cast the votes, and Chelsea also have links to the men's shortlist.
For Bompastor’s WSL leaders, the nominations are a strong signal of how their players are rated across the game.
The electorate was wide. This year 26,317 professional footballers from 75 countries took part in the vote, FIFPRO said.
Chelsea’s finalists cover goal, defence and attack
Hampton is one of three goalkeepers on the list. Bronze and Carpenter are both listed as Chelsea defenders. Beever-Jones is one of eight forwards. McCabe is listed as Arsenal/Chelsea.
The format shapes each player’s chances. Each team takes the top-voted goalkeeper. It adds the three highest-voted defenders, midfielders and forwards. The 11th place goes to the outfield player with the next-highest vote total. Hampton must top a group of three to get in. Bronze and Carpenter compete for three defensive places, with the spare outfield spot also in play.
The women’s shortlist covers performances between 4 August 2025 and 16 August 2026. Players needed at least 20 official matches in that period to be eligible. This is the second season in a row that Carpenter’s fellow professionals have voted her on to the shortlist, according to Football Australia.
France’s Wendie Renard trails Bronze by one selection. Another call-up would extend that lead.
Martínez makes the men’s list while recovering from surgery
Chelsea also feature on the men’s shortlist. Emiliano Martínez is one of its three goalkeepers. He is listed as Aston Villa/Chelsea. The goalkeeper is currently out injured. He had successful surgery on a fractured jaw after a second-half collision at Everton.
Two more finalists spent part of the voting period at Chelsea. Marc Cucurella is listed as Chelsea/Real Madrid. Enzo Fernández is listed as Chelsea/Manchester City. He sits in the midfield group alongside Declan Rice, Pedri and Vitinha.
The men’s shortlist covers performances between 4 August 2025 and 19 July 2026. Players needed at least 30 official appearances to qualify. In all, 19,806 men’s players voted.
The nominations come with Chelsea Women in strong form. A 6-0 win at Charlton on 1 November took them back to the top of the WSL. They have 22 points from seven wins and a draw in their first eight league games. They are level on points with Manchester City but lead on goal difference, with +23 against City’s +12.
Bompastor’s side travel to Sunderland next. The day after that trip, FIFPRO’s digital platforms will show who made both teams.
