Dowman included in England U21 squad for first time
Arsenal youngster Max Dowman has received his first call-up to the England Under-21 squad for this month’s games against Portugal and France.
Young Lions head coach Lee Carsley has named a 24-man squad for the two fixtures in Bristol, which will serve as England’s first preparation matches ahead of next summer’s UEFA Under-21 European Championship Finals.
16-year-old Dowman is one of two players to receive a first Under-21 call-up, alongside Norwich City forward Jovon Makama.
Liverpool’s Trey Nyoni, Everton midfielder Harrison Armstrong and West Ham’s Divine Mukasa are also included after stepping up from the Under-20s during the previous international window.
England will face Portugal at Ashton Gate Stadium on Friday, November 13 before taking on France at the same venue three days later.
