Cristiano Ronaldo will be told once and for all whether he has a future with Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo (41) has been named in Jorge Jesus' Portugal squad for the Nations League matches against Denmark, Norway and Wales.

His international future had looked uncertain after Portugal's last-16 exit to Spain at the World Cup. The veteran left the pitch in tears, but will carry on with the national team after all.

Ronaldo has 233 caps and 146 goals for Portugal. The Al-Nassr forward made his international debut in August 2003 and is still representing his country more than two decades later.

Winning Euro 2016 remains the standout moment of his international career. A World Cup, despite several shots at major tournaments, has eluded the forward.

As for Jorge Jesus, he replaced Roberto Martínez after the latter stepped down following the World Cup. Jesus has previously managed Benfica and Sporting Portugal in his homeland. Last season, he was Ronaldo's coach at Al-Nassr.

Portugal open their Nations League campaign against Wales on 24 September. They then meet Norway three days later, with the Scandinavians having reached the World Cup quarter-finals.
