Al-Nassr edged past Neom SC 1-0 at home in the Saudi Pro League on Tuesday evening despite a missed penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo.

On Monday, news emerged that the Portuguese football federation had fined Ronaldo €255 and suspended him for thirty days after he angrily left Portugal's training camp in late September, putting him back in the spotlight.

Hoping to change the mood around him, Ronaldo stepped up when Al-Nassr won a penalty just before half-time. He was aiming for the 982nd goal of his career, but put the ball wide.

Ronaldo missed another huge chance immediately after the break. A header sent the ball across the face of goal, but the Portuguese superstar put it over the open goal from a few metres out.

After an hour, Al-Nassr finally made their superiority count. João Félix received the ball on the edge of the penalty area and fired high into the net to make it 1-0.

Neom couldn't respond. Al-Nassr sit third in the Saudi Pro League with 22 points from nine matches.

Having won earlier on Tuesday thanks to a goal from Tijjani Reijnders, leaders Al-Qadsiah have three more points but have played one match more. Neom are sixth.
