Ruben Amorim decided it was time for a tough approach after the defeat against Ferencvaros, criticising the team again at Milanello yesterday.

After a massive win in the Derby della Madonnina, many hoped that it would be a turning point for the Rossoneri. However, it was followed up by an embarrassing 2-0 defeat to Ferencvaros at San Siro, putting their Europa League campaign at great risk.

Amorim didn’t hold back in the post-match interview, making it very clear that the players must do a lot better both in training and during the games. After previously defending his players, as such, he now decided it was tough for some tougher treatment.

Amorim puts his foot down

According to today’s edition of Corriere della Sera, as cited by MilanNews, Amorim laid into his players at Milanello as well yesterday. The head coach opted for some very ‘strong language’ to address the team, stronger than ever before, to try to get his point across.

In Amorim’s eyes, the players have lacked the ‘right ambition, concentration, desire’ in some of the games this season, which makes it very difficult to have any tactical success no matter what you do.

Of course, he also knows that he can do better himself, which he highlighted to the players, but they haven’t done enough to live up to the standards of the red and black shirt. And so, a response will be needed immediately to get back to winning ways tomorrow.

Genoa are the opponents and considering that they have been in very good form lately, a good performance will indeed be needed from Milan to clinch all three points.
