Capello hopes Amorim has ‘found the right path’ with selections: “Finally fielded his best team”

Fabio Capello praised Ruben Amorim for finally fielding the right starting line-up during AC Milan’s win over Lecce.

Milan simply had to bounce back after their midweek loss in the Europa League to Benfica, and they did so with a convincing 3-0 win over Lecce. Christian Pulisic ended his Milan goal drought in the first half, then Adrien Rabiot and Diego Moreira each scored in the second.

With Inter and Roma drawing in their meeting on Saturday it has certainly made things tighter at the top, with the Rossoneri now two points behind the league-leaders. Given that pressure had begun to start mounting after three games without a win, it feels like a crucial three points.

‘Perhaps found the right path’

Capello gave an interview to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanPress) in which he spoke about how multiple clubs enter the three-week international break, including his old side Milan.

“Amorim has finally fielded his best team and perhaps found the right path. We saw the results immediately, now we’re waiting for Milan to integrate the new players, then we’ll see what happens,” he said.

“The great thing about this season is that everyone plays at great speed. The pace has increased, the playing time has increased, the cramps have increased because the players run more. Finally, there are no more 0-0s. And well done to the referees, who let the game flow, well done Orsato.”
